Interested in becoming a Master on a vessel of less than 60 gross tonnage? With a 60 GT Limited Masters Certificate of Competency, you can be a master or a captain on a vessel under 60 gross tonnes, including charter boats or tug boats!
The Lax Kw’alaams Business Development wants to sponsor our members to obtain their Master Limited (60GT) Certificate of Competency.
After this course, you will be able to manage all aspects of the vessel’s operation.
From the Western Maritime Institute Website:
Your responsibilities will include
Ensuring the safe operation of the vessel at all times
Ensuring the vessel complies with local and international law
Ensuring the safety of all personnel on board
Ensuring the safe carriage of cargo or tow
Preparing voyage plans and recording all the vessel’s activities
Your Master Limited (under 60GT) Certificate of Competency will be limited to a named vessel (or sister vessels within a fleet), vessel type, gross tonnage and area of operation.
Western Maritime Institute’s Master Limited Certificate of Competency is made up of the following courses:
MED Domestic Vessel Safety (Former MED A1/A2)
Restricted Operator Certificate – Marine Commercial
