Every year, the Lax Kw’alaams Business Development, in partnership with Metlakatla Development Corporation, host the Annual Coast Tsimshian Career Fair. Today marks exactly 1 year since our last Career Fair, held in person at the Jim Ciccone Civic Centre Auditorium.

Jessica Lincoln and Lisa Girbav at the annual Coast Tsimshian Career Fair. Photo taken March 11, 2020, before social distancing, face masks and “bubbles” were common practice! Hand sanitizers were plentiful at this event.

March 11, 2021, also marks the 1 year anniversary of the World Health Organization (WHO) characterizing the spread of COVID-19 as a pandemic. Since our last Coast Tsimshian Career Fair, we’ve had to do things a little differently. So this year, we developed a career booklet, titled, Opportunities.

Inside this booklet you’ll find information of 47 different organizations, including 31 potential employers, 12 different training providers, and 4 union organizations. Each company will discuss their projects, their upcoming employment and training opportunities, as well as projects proposed for our traditional territory and beyond! Our goal at the end of the day is to increase employment and training opportunities for Lax Kw’alaams and Metlakatla members.

Opportunities will be available in the next week, as we are just waiting for the book to come back from the printer. We will also be releasing Opportunities online in early April. Please keep an eye on the Lax Kw’alaams Business Development Facebook page for more information on how to get your copy.
